ISO 26000 is the international standard that provides guidance on social responsibility. It helps organisations of every type understand and act on their responsibility for the impact of their decisions on society and the environment, across seven core subjects and seven guiding principles. Unlike a management system standard, ISO 26000 is guidance only and is not intended for certification.

Putting social responsibility into practice means embedding the principles in how you make decisions and addressing each core subject, from human rights and labour practices to the environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues and community development. Structured documents make that easier to approach.

Use the self assessment to benchmark your practice against the seven principles and seven core subjects, and adapt the social responsibility policy template to your context. Because ISO 26000 cannot be certified, these tools are for honest self assessment and improvement, not for a certificate.
